Nestled in the highlands of Sidama, Ethiopia, the Rumudamo washing station is a cornerstone of quality in the Arbegona district, where coffee is grown at elevations ranging from 1,920 to 2,350 meters. Managed by Asefa Dukamo Korma, the farm works with around 600 smallholder farmers who hand-pick ripe coffee cherries, delivering them to the station daily during harvest season.
Rumudamo’s commitment to excellence is evident in its history of accolades, including top rankings in the Cup of Excellence (COE), one of the most prestigious coffee competitions in Ethiopia. This achievement reflects the farm’s dedication to showcasing the unique terroir of Sidama through meticulous processing and high-quality standards.
At Rumudamo, the cherries are processed using a Natural Slow Dry method. The cherries are carefully sorted and dried on raised beds over an extended period, allowing complex flavors to develop slowly under controlled conditions. This slow drying technique enhances the beans’ vibrant flavors and results in a cup that is both complex and balanced, perfect for filter brewing and light roasting.
